De-Thatching

Why De-thatch?

  • Thatch can keep water and air from reaching the soil.
  • De-thatching removes those layers of dead grass roots and debris matted between the soil and the growing grass.
  • If left untreated it can create an environment that harbours pests and diseases.

Over Seeding and Top Dressing – Spring & Fall

  • We highly recommend top dressing and over seeding your lawn after aeration and de-thatch to grind up aeration plugs and to achieve a thick, healthy weed free lawn.
  • The less holes/patches that are in your lawn the less opportunity there is for weed germination to develop.
  • After dead grass (thatch) is removed and air pockets are made from aeration, this will create the perfect element for a proper over seed. We recommend that ¼ inch of top dress be applied before seed is laid. Seed best germinates at temperatures of 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

Sodding includes soil, sod and debris removal

  • A minimum 3” base of weed free lawn soil will be applied on every install.
  • Property will be properly graded as to maintain water run off away from the foundation.
  • A starter fertilizer will be applied once sodding is complete.
